KANDAHAR: Boxers win gold in Pakistan

KANDAHAR - Six Afghan boxers participated in a club tournament in Baluchistan province of Pakistan and won three Gold Medals and two Silver Medals.

The victorious boxers returned to Kandahar yesterday after participating in the boxing championship sponsored by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to raise awareness about polio in border town of Chaman in Pakistan.

A formal ceremony was organized at the Department of Sports to hail the performance of the Kandahari boxers, with the participation of representatives from the Kandahar Governor’s Office, among other officials.

During the ceremony, Chief of Staff at the Governor’s Office, Mohammad Amin Kamin, congratulated the boxers for bringing glory to Kandahar and appreciated their hard work and dedication to sports.

“We will strive to find opportunities for Kandahar boxers to participate in other tournaments inside and outside of the country,” said Mr. Kamin, calling the feat “a tremendous job”.
