HELMAND: Outgoing Governor given heartfelt farewell

KANDAHAR - The outgoing governor of Helmand province, Mohammad Gulab Mangal, was given a heartfelt farewell, at a ceremony in Lashkar Gah yesterday, stated a Governor’s office press release.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking civil and military officials, Provincial Council members, religious scholars, Members of Parliament and tribal elders.

“I spent four and half years in Helmand province and have got numerous achievements in terms of security, reconstruction and other sectors,” said Mr. Mangal at the ceremony. “I may have been tough at times, but it was entirely for the welfare of Helmandis.”

Other participants appreciated Mr. Mangal’s performance during his tenure.

Other speakers said Mr. Mangal took “historic and beneficial” steps in Helmand province for development and improvement of security and “his achievements will not be forgotten”.

Some of the major achievements of Mr. Mangal are categorized as the construction of Bost Airport, construction of all roads in Lashkar Gah and some districts of the province, a big mosque and several other mega projects implemented during his tenure.
