HELMAND: Homes for returnees to be constructed soon

HELMAND - In a meeting with Helmand Provincial Council Members, the head of Returnees and Refugees Department, Ghulam Farooq Noorzai, said that around 209 families and other 71 families returned from Iran and Pakistan respectively to Helmand province in the Afghan year of 1391. They were registered and sent back to their places of origin.

Mr. Noorzai said that his department had provided food and non-food assistance to around 2,098 IDPs with assistance from the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) and the World Food Programme (WFP).

Around 2,000 IDP families received winter clothing and other materials provided by UNHCR.

Mr. Noorzai said that they planned to construct homes for the returnees and IDPs in Helmand province and the project would start soon.
