HELMAND: Female nursing training centre inaugurated

HELMAND - The Governor of Helmand Province, Mohammad Naeem inaugurated a female nursing training centre in Lashkar Gah district yesterday.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Provincial Governor said that nursing training centre would help reduce the mortality rate in Helmand province.

“In each training cycle of two and half years, around 38 female nurses will be able to graduate from the training centre,” said Mr. Naeem.

The training centre has a double story building with 16 rooms, rest rooms, bathrooms, dormitory and other essential facilities. The construction of the building was completed in one year at a cost of Afs 18 million (approx. US$3.3 million) with funding support from the Helmand Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT).

The Director of the Public Health Department, Enayatullah Ghafari, said that the public health services in Helmand province are improving.

“If the local population extends their cooperation, the health services can get more efficient and the quality of the health care services will improve even in the district level,” said Mr. Ghafari.
