HELMAND: ‘Several’ local projects implemented to improve lives

HELMAND - Officials at the Provincial Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (RRD) said they had implemented several development projects in Nad Ali, Washir and Nahr-e-Saraj districts of Helmand province and provided basic services to hundreds of families.

The officials informed that “several projects” were implemented in the past one month as part of the regional development plan and based on the priority of the local communities.

“We have implemented an embroidery project in Nad Ali district with a total budget of US$ 34,418,” said Mohammad Omar Qani, the head of RRD Helmand.

Moreover, 500 metres of protection wall has been constructed in Washir district, in addition to construction of nine metres of gabion with a total cost of US$ 139,472. Around 850 families will benefit with the implementation of the projects in Washir, added Mr. Qani.

On the other hand, 20 clean drinking water pumps have been installed in Nahr-e-Saraj district with a total budget of around US$ 37,669 and more than 400 families will benefit from these water wells.

All the projects were implemented in coordination with the local district development Shuras.
