GHAZNI: Rain damages grape farms

Heavy rain has damaged many acres of grape farms in southern Ghazni province, officials said on Sunday.

Recent heavy rains in Andar, Qarabagh, Deh Yak and Jaghori districts of the province have caused heavy losses to grape farms, said Sultan Hussain Abbasyar, the provincial director for agriculture, livestock and irrigation.

A local farmer in Deh Yak district, Muhammad Sarwar, said his grapes went rotten and that the rains caused unpredictable losses to his farm.

The Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority said it had sent a delegation to assist the disaster-affected people in the province.
