BAMYAN: Rise in girls’ enrolment in schools

BAMYAN - The Bamyan provincial Department of Education has reported a rise in the number of girls enrolled in schools this year.

Raza Ada, the head of the Department, said 13,000 children – with girls making up 46 per cent of them – enrolled in schools throughout the province this year. This shows a one per cent increase in girls’ enrolment as compared to the last year.

“The admissions are still open for another week,” he added.

Mr. Ada said 123 out of 353 schools do not have proper buildings and they also lack enough classrooms.

Mr. Ada said the people of the Afghan province are eagerly sending their children to schools, including those families who cannot even afford to do so.
