BALKH: Mathematical philosopher Mohammad Sediq Afghan honoured

BALKH - A large gathering was organized to honour the efforts of Mohammad Sediq Afghan, an Afghan mathematics philosopher. 

The gathering was attended by Balkh governor Atta Mohammad Noor, provincial council chairman Dr Afzal Hadid, provincial chief of police Esmatullah Alizai, chief of National Directorate of Security (NDS) Ebadullah Ebad, professors from Balkh University as well as university and school students and heads of line departments and Mohammad Sediq Afghan.

Mr. Noor said Mohammad Sediq Afghan was a philosopher of mathematics recognized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and that it was with great pride to host him. One of the female secondary schools was named after Mohammad Sediq Afghan in Mazar-e Sharif. Mr. Noor also provided him with a mathematical philosophy research centre.

Mohammad Sediq Afghan in his speech stated that “the country needed weapons to liberate it in the past, but now the country needs pens to rebuild it.”

He also attended the meeting of Balkh university lecturers and students and briefed the participants on his scientific works and answered questions from the lecturers and students. He was accompanied by the second deputy of National Assembly Farhad Azimi and chairman of provincial council Dr Mohammad Afzal Hadid to the university. Mr Mohammad Sediq Afghan was invited personally by Governor Atta to Balkh.
