  • 06 Sep 2022 - NEW YORK – The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attack outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Kabul, Afghanistan, on 5 September 2022, which was claimed by Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP), an entity affiliated with Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/Da’esh), and resulted in the deaths of at least 6 people, including two Russian embassy employees, and injured several more.
  • 05 Sep 2022 - NEW YORK - The Secretary-General strongly condemns today’s attack in Kabul in the immediate vicinity of the Embassy of the Russian Federation. The Secretary-General conveys his condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.   The Secretary-General reiterates that attacks against civilians and civilian objects, including diplomatic missions, are strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.  
  • 03 Sep 2022 - NEW YORK - The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the continued heinous terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Afghanistan, including the attack against the Guzargah mosque in Herat on 2 September which killed at least 18 people and injured several more.

  • 18 Aug 2022 - NEW YORK - The Secretary-General expresses his deep concern over a series of explosions in Afghanistan that have killed and injured more than 250 people this month, including children. He strongly condemns the most recent attack on 17 August, at the Abu Bakar Mosque in Kabul city.
