PAKTYA - A large cache of illicit drugs and alcohol was destroyed in Paktya province on Wednesday, officials said.

About 4,002 kilograms of hashish, 1,940 litres of spirit and 2,310 litres of acid seized from different parts of the province were set alight in presence of Governor Juma Khan Hamdard and local officials, according to the Governor’s spokesman, Roohullah Samoon.

Since the beginning of 2013, up to 84,000 kg of drugs has been destroyed in the province, the provincial police chief, Gen. Zalmay Oryakhel, said.
