British Prime Minster David Cameron has warned Pakistan that is should not send terrorists to Afghanistan and other countries in the world. He added that the UK wants a stable Pakistan that should not be a base for terrorism.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Afghan Defence Ministry’s Spokesperson General Zahir Azimi stated that the war will continue in Afghanistan until terrorism safe havens are destroyed outside Afghanistan, adding that terrorism is not only a threat to Afghanistan but also to the region and the world.

NATO’s military spokesperson has condemned the release of thousands of US classified documents related to the Afghan war.

US President Barack Obama has expressed concern over the release of thousands of US classified documents related to the Afghan war. Meanwhile, the US State Department said that the release of thousands of classified documents will compromise US national security.

A former official of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Colonel Imam, who was kidnapped few months ago by militants in northern Waziristan, in a video tape has warned the Pakistani Government that he will reveal confidential documents if the Government does not make efforts to release him.

Recent floods have killed over 40 people, including women and children and have injured 15 others in Kapisa and Laghman provinces.

A passenger bus was hit by a roadside mine in Nimroz that resulted in the death of 25 civilians.

Mullah Tarakhil, a parliamentary election candidate, has denied his presence at the incident, in which seven passersby were injured by his bodyguards. Later, two of the injured died in the hospital.

The Afghanistan Journalists Union called the decision made by the Afghan Council of Ministers to suspend some TV programmes illegal.

At press conference on Wednesday, NATO’s military spokesperson said the release of thousands of US classified documents related to the Afghan war will affect the US’s cooperation with Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The US Congress has approved US$ 59 billion for deployment of more US troop in Afghanistan.

Taliban have threatened to kill 70 tribal elders in the Panjwayi district of Kandahar if they do not leave the country.

The IEC has lifted the restrictions on parliamentary election candidates to appear on TV as presenters.

The United Nations on Wednesday expressed deep concern at reports of civilian casualties at the hands of foreign troops in the Sangin district of Helmand province. "It is essential that the current ISAF-Afghan Government investigation be completed in a thorough, transparent and timely manner, and that the findings be made public as soon as possible," the UN mission in Kabul said.

The US House of Representatives approved President Barack Obama's request for an additional $37 billion for the war in Afghanistan and Iraq; although there was more opposition to it than earlier.

Governor of Helmand Gulab Mangal on Wednesday granted conditional permission for the reopening of a hospital, run by the Milan-based non-governmental organization (NGO) Emergency in Lashkargah, the provincial capital. The 70-bed hospital was closed after security officials discovered weapons and ammunition on its premises and detained nine employees earlier this year.

A spy aircraft of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) crashed in northern Kunduz province on Wednesday, German forces said.

Some 20,000 volunteers and health workers are making house calls to vaccinate children against polio in Afghanistan as part of a United Nations backed campaign targeting nearly eight million children by the end of the year. “We hope that religious scholars, community representatives, parents and ordinary people will help us achieve our target to eliminate polio form the region,” said Rahmathullah Kamwak, who heads the office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Kandahar.

According to a NATO report, Taliban militants have significantly stepped up efforts to intimidate tribal elders across the country. There is a great need for a country-wide campaign to explain that the Taliban’s activities and its attacks on schools and women are against Islam and are destroying the country. This can be done through tribal chiefs and religious scholars.

Recent flash floods have killed six people, washed away hundreds of houses and tens of hectares of land in Nangarhar. Afghan National Police and Army rescued 200 families in Jalalabad. These families were provided with food assistance by the provincial governor.

The head of Nangarhar province convened and chaired a meeting of an emergency committee to discuss and take urgent action in providing assistance to the flood-affected families in the province. The meeting was attended by Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), Afghan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), some UN agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Nangarhar (Shamshad TV) Headlines
Ten people are killed and 20 are missing in Dawlatsha and Alishang districts of Laghman province, due to recent flash floods. The floods also washed away a bridge, five culverts, some intakes and hundred hectares of land.

Kandahar (RTA) Headlines
Special Representative for the United Nations Secretary General Staffan de Mistura has expressed concerns over civilian casualties inflicted by NATO forces in Sangin district of Helmand province on Friday. By issuing a press release, Staffan de Mistura, called upon those involved in conflict to avoid civilian casualties.

Helmand Governor Gulab Mangal allowed the Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand province, to resume its activities under the Afghan Health Ministry after it was closed for allegedly treating the Taliban four months earlier.

Three Kuchi women were killed and two others injured when an IED exploded in Shinkey district of Zabul province.


Paktya (Paktya Ghag Radio) Headlines
35 reconstruction projects like meeting halls, supportive walls, water reservoirs, flour mills, digging of wells and reconstruction of road have been completed in Khost province, an official said. The projects cost Afs 37,845,000 million and benefit more than 5,255 families, a spokesman for provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development (RRD) said.

Paktya (RTA) headlines
On Wednesday, the Paktya Provincial Council (PC) reopened after being closed for three weeks in a protest against foreign troops body-searching women, officials said.

A representative of the Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) in a press conference in Mazar-e-Sharif on Wednesday expressed serious concerns about the recent threats to woman teachers mainly in three districts of Balkh province. According to the recent reports the female teachers in Kaldar, Khulm and Sholgara districts of Balkh province have been threatened by insurgents and many of them have stopped going to work after unknown gunmen killed a female teacher in her house in Kaldar district of Balkh on 3 July.
