PRESS RELEASE: Reforms needed to ensure justice for women victims of violence

KABUL/GENEVA, 19 APRIL 2015 – Access to justice for women victims of violence in Afghanistan needs to be strengthened, a new UN report has urged. The report states that while there is a legal framework in place for such cases, there remain many factors hindering access to justice and redress for such women, in particular the lack of available civil remedies.

PRESS STATEMENT: UNAMA condemns killing of civilians in spate of incidents

KABUL, 10 April 2015 – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemns the killing of at least 18 civilians over the last 24 hours in three separate incidents, including Thursday’s armed attack on the Prosecutor’s Office in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif, as well as two incidents Friday involving a suicide bomber in Jalalabad city and a road-side bomb explosion in Ghazni province.
