KABUL - As Afghans prepare to mark the holy occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, the United Nations wishes all Afghans a peaceful and joyous celebration.

“Eid-ul-Adha is a time of peace - which Afghanistan richly deserves,” said the Secretary-General’s Special Representative and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Ján Kubiš. “The United Nations remains a committed partner and supporter of Afghans. President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and the government of national unity in their efforts to achieve stability, prosperity and a lasting peace – Eid Mubarak to you all.”

UNAMA expresses the hope that all Afghans will be able to celebrate the occasion in a spirit of brotherhood, free from violence and surrounded by family and friends.
