KABUL - The Independent Election Commission and Presidential candidate Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met last night in an encounter facilitated by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

The meeting allowed for an exchange of views and included all of the Commissioners and Dr. Abdullah and his electoral advisers.

The UN Mission has been encouraging the Presidential candidates to fully engage in the electoral process and cooperate with each other and with the electoral institutions as they undertake their mandated roles.

UNAMA will continue to support the electoral process that remains fully in the hands of Afghan electoral institutions and stakeholders and remains their sole responsibility.
